Colorado's First Women's Only Ride

Though skies were cloudy Sunday morning, 650 motivated ladies from Lyons to Denver lined up at the starting “gate” at 7 a.m. for the Venus de Miles bicycle ride, the first of its kind in Colorado.

After suffering from two debilitating sicknesses—diabetes and schizophrenia—that kept him holed up in his home, unable to walk, Peter Allen fell into a deep depression. However, after Community Cycles, a nonprofit out of Boulder gave him a bicycle, his life changed. And he has organized a special event to celebrate and help the organization that helped him.

Organizers were surprised at the huge numbers of ladies that showed up for Colorado’s first women’s only ride.

Nike is partnering with Air New Zealand to fly five runners and their guests to Australia to run the race in Melbourne at 9 a.m. on Aug 31, then fly back to the U.S, across the International Date Line, to run the race in Los Angeles at 8:31:08 p.m.
