For Holly Cameron, owner of Pilates Central in Westminster, her fitness philosophy can be summed up in six words: breathing, centering, concentration, control, precision and flowing.

“Pilates is a very mind/body oriented form of training,” she explains. At her studio, with its wall of windows and beautiful views of the mountains, Cameron offers classes that she describes as “an hour of full-body movements.” According to Cameron, who has been teaching Pilates since 2001, there are more than 800 different exercises in Pilates that can be done on a variety of pieces of equipment with such names as Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Tower, all of which she has at her studio. So you’ll never be bored in a class.

You’ll also likely discover muscles you never thought existed. With its blend of full-body movements, Cameron notes that Pilates translates to your sports and everyday activities. Cameron’s studio offers a range of classes for both multiple students as well as independent sessions. During the winter months, Cameron teaches classes geared toward winter sports conditioning such as skiing—she’s a former ski instructor who has used Pilates to help deal with an on-going battle with a bulging disc after a fall skiing. This spring, she’ll shift gears with sessions for warm-weather sports such as running and cycling.

Regardless, though, a Pilates class can help with more than your sports. “Being better at Pilates helps you be better at life,” says Cameron. Pilates Central is located at 11859 Pecos St. in Westminster. For more, call 303-410-1600 or visit www.pilatescentral.us.
